Subj: 2023 American Legion Clinton Post 259 Scholarship Program
The American Legion Clinton Post 259 is pleased to announce its 2023 Scholarship Program. This year, Clinton Post 259 intends to award up to three $1,000.00 scholarships totaling $3,000.00 to graduating high school seniors that fall in the following two categories:
• Category 1: A graduating high school senior from Surrattsville High School.
• Category 2: A graduating high school senior who is a descendant (child, grandchild, great grandchild) of a member of Clinton Post 259.
Eligibility Requirements. To be considered for a scholarship award, the applicant must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Be an American citizen or a legal resident.
2. Be a graduating high school senior from Surrattsville High School or a graduating high school senior who is a descendant of an active or deceased member of Clinton Post 259.
3. Have an overall grade point average of 2.50.
Scholarship Application Procedure. The application package must contain the following:
1. Completed and signed scholarship application form.
2. One-page letter stating the applicant’s goals for furthering their education.
3. A listing of extracurricular activities, community service activities, academic honors, and positions of leadership held.
4. A minimum of two letters of reference with one from a school official.
5. An official high school transcript.
Due Date and Mailing Address. The deadline date for receipt of all application packages is April 17, 2023. The completed application package must be mailed to the following address:
